Protest Fails to Stop Mahmud Muye's Return as Niger JUSUN Chairman

Amidst protest by the  Light Pressure Group of the Judiciary Staff Union against the elongation of the Mahmud Al-Amern Muye led executive of the  Judiciary Staff Union  (JUSUN) in Niger State, Mahmud has fought his return back as the Chairman of the Union.

The pressure group had earlier petitioned the leadership of the Niger state chapter of the Judiciary Union of Nigeria (JUSUN),under Barrister Mahmud Al-Ameen Muye of overstaying in office for thirteen years without conducting election.

In a petition forwarded to relevant security agencies and the office of the state Controller of Labour in Niger State Hajiya Zainab Abubakar  and obtained by our Correspondent in Minna,alleged that the Barrister Mahmud led leadership has violated relevant sections of the union’s constitutional provision.
The petition jointly signed by the interim chairman of the group Adamu Baba Ndace, and the interim Secretary, Suleiman Alhaji Ndanusa claimed that Mahmud Muye has over stayed in office and he should vacate the office without further delay.

The petition tagged,”Notice of illegality and demand for dissolution of the caretaker executive committee of JUSUN,Niger State Chapter: and declaration of nullity of resolutions issued in breach of JUSUN Constitution 2025 and sections 40 (1),1999 (as amended)”. 

Alleged that the Mahmud  Muye led caretaker executive has overstayed in office for thirteen years as caretaker without conducting elections.

However,despite the protest by the pressure group, nine members executive to pilot the affairs of the Niger State  chapter of the Union in the next four years,were affirmed and inaugurated by the assistant National Secretary of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Barrister Saidu Musa Adamu.

The nine member executive include  Barrister Mahmud Al-Ameen Muye as the Chairman,  Mrs. Susan Kakasha Yisa, Vice chairman, Bala Mohammed as the Secretary the post of treasurer went to Salisu Mohammed,and Isah Kpetu  as the  Financial Secretary.

Others members of the executive are  Mudasiru Abdulrahaman as the organizing Secretary, the post of the Legal adviser went to Mohammed Mustapha Yunusa Esq. Hussaina Kawu as the assistant Financial Secretary.

The post of the Public Relation officer (PRO) was contested between Mohammed Abubakar and Abdullahi 
Mohammed Jibrin,Mohammed Abubakar step down for Abdullahi Jibrin while election in to the post of auditor will be contested in a later date.

Speaking with Journalists shortly after the inauguration,the returned Chairman Mahmud  Muye,pleaded with the pressure group to partner with his leadership so as to move the union forward.

He assured of his leadership commitment to prioritize the welfare of members of the union and ensure the protection of their interest at all times,urging the aggrieved members of the pressure group to put their election behind them.

According to Mahmud Muye, the election has come and gone,” and the issue should not for anyway divide us we are one united family in the union. We should not allow the election to do us apart. 

The election has come has come and gone, please let us put our head together to move the union forward I'm appealing to you all” he pleaded.
