The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed appreciation to the Israeli Knesset following what it described as a historic and productive engagement with senior Israeli lawmakers in Jerusalem.
In a statement issued on Friday by IPOB Spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group thanked the Deputy Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Nissim Vaturi, and Deputy Chairman of the Knesset and member of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, Limor Son Har-Melech, for receiving its delegation.
According to the statement, the meeting represents a significant step in IPOB's international diplomatic engagement and reflects the group's continued pursuit of what it described as a peaceful and lawful campaign for self-determination.
IPOB stated that discussions in Jerusalem reinforced its belief that strategic partnerships with Israel and the United States would advance its aspirations through shared values of justice, liberty and human dignity.
The organisation further argued that the experiences of the Jewish and Biafran peoples share historical similarities, citing persecution, displacement and security challenges. It maintained that the restoration of an independent Biafra remains, in its view, the most viable solution to addressing the security concerns facing Biafrans and other minority communities in parts of Nigeria.
The group also disclosed that its international advocacy efforts are continuing in Washington, D.C., and other global capitals, while reiterating its commitment to non-violent struggle, adherence to the rule of law and peaceful diplomatic engagement.
The statement concluded with appreciation to the Government and people of Israel, members of the Knesset and other supporters of the Biafran cause for what IPOB described as their solidarity and commitment to justice and human rights.
