Fifty-year-old Aisha Sagir and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, both of Unguwar Katsinawa, in Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, have reportedly been killed by rainstorm.

The heavy rainstorm, accompanied by strong winds, destroyed several houses, livestock and other valuables worth millions of naira in Bara.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib.

According to the statement, the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday following a downpour accompanied by a severe windstorm.

“Preliminary reports indicate that on June 10, 2026, Kirfi Local Government Area experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds. The severe weather incident resulted in the tragic loss of Aisha Sagir, 50-year-old, and her granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, 4-year-old, both of Unguwar Katsinawa, Bara Village, Kirfi LGA,” the statement read.

The police spokesperson disclosed that, apart from the loss of lives, the rainstorm destroyed several houses, livestock and other valuables estimated to be worth millions of naira

“Police operatives attached to Kirfi Division have visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage and to maintain order in the affected community.”
