Clerk Commends Speaker Jatau for Capacity-Building Opportunity, Pledges Knowledge Transfer

The management staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly are currently undergoing a five-day intensive capacity-building programme on legislative administration organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja.

The training, which commenced on June 8 and is expected to conclude on June 12, is taking place at the permanent site of NILDS along Airport Road, Abuja. Participants include the Clerk, Deputy Clerks, and Directors of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Tagged "NILDS 5-Day Capacity Building Training on Legislative Administration for Clerk, Deputy Clerks and Directors of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly," the programme is designed to strengthen participants' knowledge and expertise in legislative administration with a view to enhancing legislative efficiency and promoting good governance in Nasarawa State.

Speaking during the opening
 session, the Lead Consultant, Dr. Muhammed O. Amali, alongside other facilitators, welcomed participants and outlined the objectives of the workshop. 

They emphasized the importance of effective legislative administration and urged attendees to apply and disseminate the knowledge acquired to improve legislative practices within their respective departments.

The facilitators delivered presentations on key aspects of legislative administration and institutional management, stressing the need for professionalism, innovation, and continuous capacity development in legislative institutions.

Speaking on behalf of the Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Ibraheem Abdulaziz Musa, the Deputy Clerk, Mr. Paul Okugya, expressed appreciation to the leadership of NILDS for organizing the training and providing participants with valuable insights into modern legislative management.

He described the workshop as impactful and timely, assuring that the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme would be transferred to other staff members upon their return to the Assembly.
Mr. Okugya also commended the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, for approving and supporting the participation of the management team in the training.

According to him, the opportunity will further enhance staff performance and strengthen administrative support for legislative activities in the Assembly, ultimately contributing to the development of Nasarawa State.

The training forms part of ongoing efforts by NILDS and legislative institutions across the country to build the capacity of parliamentary staff and improve the quality of legislative governance in Nigeria.
