The leadership crisis within the  (IPOB) took a fresh turn on Friday as the group's spokesperson, , declared that the dissolved third administration of the Directorate of State (DOS) no longer possesses any authority within the movement.

In a statement issued on June 19, 2026, IPOB maintained that its leader, , had lawfully dissolved the third DOS administration previously headed by  and inaugurated a new leadership under .

According to the statement, the dissolution was carried out in accordance with provisions of the IPOB Code of Conduct, which the organisation described as its supreme governing instrument.

The group argued that any subsequent actions, directives, appointments, or suspensions announced by members of the dissolved administration are null and void, insisting that authority to appoint, suspend, dismiss, or dissolve principal officers rests exclusively with the office of the movement's leader.

IPOB further alleged that attempts by members of the former administration to suspend the offices of the leader and the Director of Radio Biafra amounted to constitutional misconduct, abuse of office, and an effort to undermine the movement's chain of command.

The statement emphasized that IPOB remains a disciplined organisation governed by rules and procedures, warning that members who defy recognised leadership structures could face disciplinary measures, including suspension, removal from office, or expulsion.

The organisation also urged members worldwide to disregard communications issued by officials of the dissolved administration, insisting that only statements endorsed by the recognised leadership should be regarded as official positions of the movement.

Addressing the media, IPOB called for caution in reporting developments within the organisation and advised journalists to verify the status of individuals presenting themselves as representatives of the group.

The latest development highlights an ongoing internal leadership dispute within IPOB, with rival factions laying claim to legitimacy and authority within the organisation.
