Historic Coronation: Eggon Nation Set for First Staff of Office Presentation in Over Four Decades
By Suleiman Abubakar Rimi Uku Lafia
All is now set for the historic coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the newly installed Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I, in what is being described as a landmark event in the history of the Eggon Nation.
The grand ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Nasarawa Eggon, and will be performed by the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule.
According to the Coronation Planning Committee, the occasion is particularly significant as it will be the first presentation of a Staff of Office to an Aren Eggon in more than 43 years.
The last ceremony of its kind took place in 1983 when the late Aren Eggon, Bala Abaine Angbazo, received the Staff of Office from the then Governor of old Plateau State, Solomon Daushep Lar.
The event is expected to attract an array of prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries from across the country, including delegations from Kano, Borno, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa, Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Kaduna, and Katsina states.
Beyond the official presentation of the Staff of Office, guests will be treated to colourful cultural performances, traditional dances from various ethnic groups within and outside Nasarawa State, and exhibitions showcasing the rich cultural and culinary heritage of the Eggon people.
The committee described the coronation as a historic milestone that symbolizes unity, cultural pride, and the enduring traditional heritage of the Eggon Nation.
