The Emir of Gazargamu, Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh, has died after a prolonged illness while undergoing medical treatment in Cairo, Egypt.
The monarch reportedly passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, bringing to an end a reign widely regarded for wisdom, humility, and dedication to the service of his people.
Confirming the development, his son, Tijjani Hamisu Bala, described the late emir as a father, mentor, and respected traditional ruler whose life was devoted to humanity and community development.
In a statement announcing the monarch’s death, Bala expressed profound sorrow over the loss, noting that the emir’s legacy of leadership, courage, and commitment to his people would remain a lasting source of inspiration.
He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the late ruler’s shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, while also seeking strength and patience for the family, the Gazargamu Emirate, and all those affected by the loss.
