Doma: Maitama Community Appeals to Governor Sule for Urgent Intervention on Erosion Crisis

Residents of Maitama Community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently intervene in the worsening erosion menace threatening lives, property, and critical infrastructure within the community.
In a formal letter addressed to the governor and signed by the Chairman of Maitama Community, Mr. Madaki Uba, the community expressed deep concern over the persistent expansion of erosion sites, which have continued to cause extensive damage to roads, residential buildings, and other public facilities.
The community noted that the erosion problem has become more severe over the years, particularly during the rainy season when flooding accelerates land degradation and increases the risk of accidents.
According to the residents, the environmental challenge now poses a serious threat to the safety and well-being of community members.
Despite efforts by residents to contain the situation, the community said the magnitude of the problem has exceeded its capacity, prompting an appeal to the state government for immediate assistance.
The residents urged Governor Sule to direct relevant government agencies to conduct an assessment of the affected areas and implement erosion control measures, including the construction of drainage systems and other protective infrastructure aimed at preventing further destruction.
Maitama Community commended the governor's commitment to infrastructure development and citizens' welfare across Nasarawa State, expressing confidence that government intervention would provide lasting relief and safeguard the future of the area.
The community further appealed for urgent consideration of its request, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to avert greater environmental and humanitarian consequences.
