7th Nasarawa Assembly Marks Three Years, Passes 37 Bills, Adjourns for Five-Week Recess

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has marked its third anniversary with a record of 37 bills and 28 resolutions passed, while also announcing a five-week legislative recess.
Speaking during the end-of-legislative-year session in Lafia, the Speaker of the House,
Danladi Jatau, said the
Assembly's legislative activities over the past three years had positively impacted the lives of residents across the state.
According to the Speaker, the Assembly has so far passed 37 bills, while 33 others remain under consideration.
He added that the 28 resolutions adopted by the House have contributed significantly to the development and governance of the state.
Dr. Jatau commended members of the Assembly for their unwavering support, cooperation, and commitment, noting that the achievements recorded by the legislature were made possible through unity and collective effort.
He also praised lawmakers for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the executive arm of government, describing the synergy as instrumental to the successes recorded by the administration of Abdullahi Sule.
The Speaker further appreciated both ruling and opposition lawmakers for their cooperation and support towards ensuring effective governance in the state.
He wished members well in their political and personal engagements during the recess and urged them to continue promoting peace and development in their constituencies.
Earlier, the Deputy Majority Leader, Abel Yakubu Bala, moved a motion for the House to proceed on recess from June 6 to July 14, 2026.
The motion was seconded by the Minority Leader, Luka Iliya Zhekaba, and was unanimously adopted by members.
Following the resolution, the House officially adjourned for a five-week recess, scheduled to end on July 14, 2026.
