Hon. Mahmud Sadis Buba, an aspirant for the House of Representatives under the ruling All Progressives Congress, has broken silence following widespread reactions to his appearance during the party’s screening exercise, declaring that years of ridicule and humiliation have only strengthened his resolve to serve at the federal level.
Speaking during his first interview with RFI Hausa, the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency aspirant said public mockery over his short stature was deeply insulting but insisted he would not allow it to distract him from his political ambition.
According to him, he has endured years of discrimination, insults, and attacks on his dignity, including abuse directed at his parents, all because of politics.
“People have stared at me, humiliated me, and attacked my dignity.
My parents have also been insulted, but despite everything, I remain focused,” he stated.
Rejecting suggestions that he should begin his political journey from the State Assembly or local government level, Sadis Buba maintained that his experience, influence, and community contributions qualify him for the National Assembly.
The APC aspirant argued that his philanthropic activities and financial support to constituents already exceed what some elected officials contribute in office.
“What would the State Assembly do for me? My target is the House of Representatives because that is where meaningful representation and development can be achieved,” he said.
He further lamented what he described as years of political marginalization of parts of Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, especially communities around Samaru and Hanwa, despite hosting strategic national institutions such as Ahmadu Bello University and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology.
Sadis Buba insisted that the constituency deserves better representation from leaders who understand the realities and developmental needs of the area.
The politician also disclosed that he stepped down from contesting in 2023 after appeals from youth stakeholders who urged him to support another candidate in the interest of unity.
He, however, warned that political loyalty should not override community interest, stressing that leadership must be measured by tangible impact on the people.
On governance and empowerment, Sadis Buba emphasized that sustainable development should go beyond food distribution and temporary handouts.
“Our people need opportunities and empowerment, not just handouts. People should be shown how to succeed rather than merely being fed,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of legislative representation, the aspirant noted that lawmakers at the federal level possess the constitutional powers and influence needed to attract development projects, sponsor impactful motions, and shape national policies capable of transforming communities.
He reaffirmed that his ambition remains focused solely on representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, insisting that anything short of that would not adequately serve the interest of his people.
