KMT Insists on Yobe APC Governorship Race, Demands Credible Direct Primaries
Aspirant Embarks on Statewide Sensitisation Tour, Rejects Withdrawal Rumours Ahead of APC Governorship Primary
A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Kashim Musa Tumsah, MFR, popularly known as KMT, has reaffirmed his commitment to remain in the race ahead of the party’s governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Tumsah, who has continued consultations and sensitisation visits across parts of the state, called for a peaceful, transparent and credible conduct of the APC governorship primaries, insisting that the direct primary mode remains the best option for producing an acceptable candidate for the party.
The aspirant made the call during visits to Nguru, Bade, Geidam and Bursari Local Government Areas, where he met with APC supporters, stakeholders and residents, assuring them of his determination to pursue his ambition to its logical conclusion.
According to him, attempts to undermine his aspiration through propaganda and alleged violations of the Electoral Act, APC Constitution and party guidelines would not discourage him from participating fully in the contest.
Tumsah maintained that the emergence of a credible flag bearer can only be guaranteed through a transparent process that reflects the wishes of party members across the state.
He also expressed concern over reports that officials expected to conduct the exercise from the APC national headquarters were allegedly close associates of the Yobe State Government, stressing that Nigerians and party faithful expect fairness and strict adherence to the party’s guidelines on direct primaries.
The APC governorship aspirant, however, assured supporters that he would accept the outcome of the election if the process is conducted in line with the rules and regulations guiding the exercise.
Tumsah, an oil and gas lawyer as well as development advocate, urged his supporters and well-wishers to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding while disregarding rumours suggesting that he had withdrawn from the governorship race.
