The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has received a major political boost ahead of the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressives Congress, as Hausa-Fulani communities in Kokona Local Government Area unanimously endorsed his aspiration to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency in 2027.
The endorsement came alongside several others from different socio-political and interest groups across the constituency, a development observers say reflects the growing acceptance of the Speaker’s aspiration to represent the constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
The Hausa-Fulani communities in Kokona Local Government Area declared their support during a solidarity visit to the Speaker at his residence in Garaku on Monday.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chairman of the Hausa-Fulani community in Kokona LGA, Hon. Bashir Gana, commended Dr. Jatau for what he described as his inclusive leadership style and commitment to the welfare of the people.
He noted that the Speaker had consistently supported the Hausa-Fulani communities in areas of politics, education, healthcare, and religious activities, citing his recent assistance during a Qur’anic Recitation Competition in the area.
Hon. Gana also appreciated the Speaker for facilitating the appointment of one of their sons as Special Adviser to the Governor, as well as donating motorcycles to Fulani leaders in the area.
He assured Dr. Jatau of the unwavering support of the Hausa-Fulani communities before, during, and after the APC primary election.
Responding, Dr. Danladi Jatau appreciated the groups for the visit and endorsement, promising to deliver quality representation and more democratic dividends if elected into the House of Representatives.
The Speaker also donated additional motorcycles to some constituents as part of efforts aimed at empowering party supporters and community leaders across the constituency.
Other groups that paid solidarity visits to the Speaker included Mada people from Hadari Ward, socio-political groups from Amba, youth and women groups, Alheri Action Group Ninkoro, APC support groups from Yelwa, among others.
Dr. Jatau also hosted supporters of Hon. Habibu Danladi, who is aspiring to succeed him in representing Kokona West Constituency at the State Assembly.
