FRSC Deploys Over 2,000 Personnel for Eid-El-Kabir Special Patrol in Benue

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Benue State has deployed over 2,000 personnel and operational equipment across strategic locations to ensure safer roads and smooth movement of travelers during the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
This was contained in a statement issued by SRC Ngozi Ahula, Public Education and Protocol Officer, on Monday in Makurdi.
According to the statement, the special patrol operation commenced on May 25 and is expected to end on May 30 as part of the Corps’ mandate to promote road safety, manage traffic effectively and reduce road crashes usually associated with increased festive movement.
Ahula explained that the exercise would feature intensified visibility patrols, traffic control measures, public enlightenment campaigns and rapid rescue services aimed at guaranteeing hitch-free journeys for motorists and commuters along major routes across Benue State.
She disclosed that nearly 20 patrol vehicles, ambulances, heavy-duty tow trucks and other traffic management facilities had been strategically positioned across identified flashpoints and crash-prone corridors to strengthen enforcement and emergency response during the operation.
The statement further noted that mobile courts had been placed on standby to prosecute traffic offenders and ensure strict compliance with road safety regulations throughout the exercise.
She quoted the Benue State Sector Commander, CC Victory Kayode-Oni, as assuring residents and travelers of full operational coverage before, during and after the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
Kayode-Oni reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging motorists to obey traffic laws and avoid speeding, dangerous driving, overloading and driving under the influence of alcohol or fatigue.
He also warned that the special patrol would focus on major traffic violations including drunk driving, the use of mobile phones while driving and other unsafe road practices.
The Sector Commander appealed to passengers and other road users to cooperate with FRSC operatives and promptly report reckless driving or road obstructions to nearby patrol teams.
