APC Clears Air as Kashim Tumsah Accepts Disqualification From Yobe Guber Primary

A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Kashim Musa Tumsah, has accepted in good faith his disqualification from the party’s gubernatorial primary after failing to secure clearance from the APC screening committee.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Tumsah disclosed that the committee declined his clearance on the grounds that most of those who nominated him were allegedly non-financial members of the ruling party.

The aspirant said he received the development with “extreme sadness,” but noted that after wide consultations with his family, supporters, as well as APC stakeholders at both the state and national levels, he resolved to accept the outcome as the will of Allah.

According to him, the decision was taken in the interest of party unity and democratic stability ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Tumsah appreciated his supporters, friends and political associates for what he described as an inspiring movement aimed at promoting justice, due process and democratic principles in Yobe State.

He urged members of the KMT political movement and APC loyalists across the state to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, warning against actions capable of creating division within the party.

The APC chieftain further stressed that throughout his campaign consultations, his movement demonstrated that a people-oriented style of politics remains achievable in the state.

While expressing gratitude to the people of Yobe State for their support and commitment, he maintained that the political journey of the KMT movement was only temporarily interrupted and not brought to an end.

Tumsah also called on his supporters to rally behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support whoever emerges as the APC governorship candidate for Yobe State in the 2027 elections.

He reaffirmed that the KMT movement would continue its humanitarian interventions and support programmes across communities in Yobe State for the benefit of the people.

The statement concluded with prayers for divine guidance and protection as the state prepares for the next phase of the political process.
