Former Aspirant Declares Loyalty to APC, Commends Tinubu’s Leadership at Lafia Press Conference

A former governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 gubernatorial race, pledging his full support for Senator Ahmed Ali Wadada as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Shuaib made the announcement during a world press conference held at Awa Diamond Hotel in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, where he addressed party stakeholders, supporters, and the media.
In his remarks, Shuaib described the current period as “demanding times” for Nigeria, calling for patience and collective national effort in achieving meaningful reforms.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism about the country’s direction.
The former aspirant explained that his decision followed extensive consultations among APC governorship aspirants from Nasarawa West, who were earlier tasked by Governor Abdullahi Sule to produce a consensus candidate ahead of the party primaries.
According to him, despite efforts made in good faith, the aspirants were unable to agree on a single candidate, prompting them to return the decision to the governor.
He said the governor subsequently announced Senator Ahmed Ali Wadada as his preferred choice after consulting key stakeholders.
Shuaib admitted that the decision was not easy for all aspirants but noted that it was accepted with maturity and respect for party unity.
“I hereby withdraw my aspiration and throw the full weight of my structure and conviction behind Senator Wadada,” he declared, assuring that his political network across the state remains intact and committed to the party’s success.
He extended a hand of partnership to Wadada, offering prayers and support for the task ahead, which he described as critical to the future of Nasarawa State.
The former aspirant also paid glowing tribute to his supporters across Nasarawa North, South, and West senatorial zones, acknowledging their sacrifices, loyalty, and unwavering belief in his vision.
He recounted how supporters contributed personal resources, including funds, vehicles, and time, to sustain the campaign, describing their efforts as deeply humbling and unforgettable.
Shuaib emphasized that his withdrawal does not mark the end of his commitment to public service, but rather a transition to supporting the broader goals of the APC and the development of Nasarawa State.
“The work continues.
The vision endures. I remain available to contribute my experience and goodwill to building a stronger Nasarawa and a greater Nigeria,” he stated.
He also paid tribute to past and present leaders of the state for their contributions to its development and thanked party stakeholders for maintaining decorum throughout the consultative process.
The event marks a significant step toward consolidating unity within the APC in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
