By Our correspondent in Damaturu

A leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Kashim Musa Tumsah (MFR), has expressed appreciation to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for offering him its governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tumsah, who spoke with journalists in Damaturu, described the gesture by the SDP as a demonstration of political maturity and sportsmanship, noting that leadership choices should transcend party affiliations in the interest of good governance.

He, however, reaffirmed his commitment to contest the governorship election under the platform of the APC, while welcoming the support and partnership extended to him by other political parties in the state.

According to him, the offer by the SDP underscores the need for credible leadership and reflects a collective desire among stakeholders to ensure the emergence of a capable chief executive for Yobe State.

Reacting to speculations surrounding the endorsement of a successor to Governor Mai Mala Buni, Tumsah dismissed the claims as unfounded, stating that no decision has been reached regarding the mode of primaries or the emergence of any candidate.

He urged the people of Yobe State to continue supporting his aspiration and the APC, assuring that he would provide an inclusive and people-oriented administration if elected.

Tumsah, who was received by a large crowd of supporters along the Potiskum–Damaturu axis, explained that his visit to the state was primarily to attend two wedding ceremonies.

He expressed gratitude to APC supporters, associates, and residents of the state for their continued encouragement and solidarity.
