The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD),in Niger State,has pledged its readiness to support voluntary medical missions,mental health interventions and emergency response for both inmates and staff of the Niger State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NcoS).
The President of the Association in Niger State,Dr. David Ese made the pledged during a courtesy visit to the Niger State Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service,(NcoS) CC Ogulnleye Seyi Oladipupo in his Office Wednesday.
Dr. Else commended the Command for its commitment in the maintenance of basic health care facility for inmates in the State Command inspire the numerous challenges assuring that the Association in the state towards actualizing the provision of the needed basic health and medical facilities to the Command.
He expressed the association’s preparedness to support with voluntary medical missions, mental health interventions, and emergency response for both inmates and staff of the Command.
Represented by the Secretary of the Association in Niger State,Dr. Yusuf Yakubu, stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening partnership with the Nigerian Correctional Service in the areas of Medical outreach,and specialist care for inmates in Niger State.
In his response, CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo, thanked the resident Doctors for their interest in inmates welfare and described the visit as "timely and strategic."
He assured the delegation of the command's commitment to inter agency collaboration in line with the section 2(1) and 10(g) of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019 which prioritizes inmates' health and rehabilitation.
CC Ogunleye, added that his doors are always open to collaborative relationships with key partners such as the Association of Resident Doctors {ARD].
This, he further stated is in accordance with the renewed and transformative vision of the Controller General of Corrections Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche,policy thrust.
