Ibhawoh Foundation Opens 2026 Undergraduate Essay Competition on AI, Education
Winners to Receive N200,000 Each as Entries Run from May 1–30

The Francis & Fidelia Ibhawoh Foundation has officially announced the commencement of entries for the 2026 edition of its Annual Undergraduate Essay Competition, focusing on the theme: “AI, Technology & Education for Nigeria’s Digital Future.”
The initiative comes at a time when Artificial Intelligence continues to reshape global educational systems and digital landscapes.
The Foundation said the competition is designed to ignite critical thinking among students on how emerging technologies can be effectively utilized to promote “smart learning” while discouraging academic misconduct.
Open to full-time undergraduate students in selected Nigerian universities, the competition will reward outstanding participants with a cash prize of N200,000 each.
The submission window is scheduled to run from May 1 to May 30, 2026, with participants expected to submit original essays between 2,500 and 3,000 words.
Chairman of the Foundation, Gerard Ibhawoh, emphasized the importance of youth-driven innovation, stating that Nigerian students have a vital role to play in shaping the country’s digital future.
“We believe Nigeria’s youth are the architects of our digital destiny. This competition provides a platform for them to propose solutions for a balanced, tech-driven future,” he said.
