The Finance Directorate of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has confirmed the transfer of ₦10 million to legal practitioner Ifeanyi Ejiofor, describing the transaction as part of legitimate operational support.

In a public briefing issued on Friday, the Head of the IPOB Finance Directorate, Nnennaya Anya, said the payment was made on August 13, 2021, through the lawyer’s office manager.
According to the statement, the funds were transferred to an account linked to Ejiofor’s office manager, Chinwe Umeche, at United Bank for Africa (UBA).

Anya explained that the transaction formed part of the organization’s disbursements for legal and related support services.

She said the payment was carried out under the direct authorization of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, stressing that the move was consistent with internal directives guiding the group’s financial operations.
Details of the transaction indicated that ₦10,000,000 was debited from the organization’s account on the stated date, with a post-transaction balance of ₦7,010,200.38, according to bank confirmation records cited in the briefing.

The IPOB finance chief noted that the clarification was issued to address public concerns and counter misinformation regarding payments connected to legal representation.

She further disclosed that additional documentation relating to another payment would be released next week to provide further transparency on the matter.
Anya emphasized that the briefing was released in the interest of openness and accountability in the management of IPOB’s finances.
