2027: Sule Meets APC Guber Aspirants, Seeks Unity, Transparent Primaries

By Suleiman Abubakar Rimi Uku Lafia

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has convened a strategic meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Abuja, emphasizing the need for unity and a peaceful primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The high-level meeting, held at the Governors Lodge shortly after the APC National Convention, brought together key party stakeholders, including former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, alongside Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Danladi Jatau, and former Deputy Governor Silas Ali Agara.

Addressing the aspirants, Governor Sule commended their active participation in the party’s e-registration exercise, noting that Nasarawa ranked among the top 12 states nationwide despite its relatively small population.

He also praised the peaceful conduct of party congresses across all levels, describing them as some of the most orderly in recent political history.

Drawing from his 2019 electoral experience, Sule stressed that no aspirant could secure victory without collective support, urging all contenders to embrace unity and teamwork.

He disclosed that the mode of primary election—whether direct or consensus—would be determined collectively by the aspirants, assuring them of his commitment to abide by the party’s decision.

On zoning, the governor reaffirmed its long-standing role in shaping political succession in the state since 2007, while maintaining that all aspirants, regardless of their zones, remain free to contest.

Sule also clarified the omission of some aspirants from the initial invitation list, attributing it to their failure to formally declare interest, but extended an open invitation in the spirit of inclusiveness.

He further urged aspirants to explore other elective opportunities within the party structure, including senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats, should they not emerge as governorship candidates.

The governor concluded with a strong warning against internal divisions, emphasizing that disunity would undermine the party’s chances in 2027.

He reiterated that his primary goal remains the APC’s overall success in Nasarawa State, pledging fairness, transparency, and sincerity throughout the primary process.
