NASHIA Rolls Out Affordable Health Insurance Plans for Nasarawa Residents
Agency targets informal, formal sectors, families, and schools with flexible coverage options

The Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) has intensified efforts to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare services across the state, unveiling a range of insurance plans designed to accommodate residents from different socio-economic backgrounds.
The agency said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that no resident of Nasarawa State is excluded from essential healthcare services due to cost, as it targets informal sector workers, families, students, and employees in the organized private and public sectors.
Under the scheme, NASHIA offers individual health insurance coverage at the rate of ₦12,000 per year, while a family of up to six persons can access comprehensive healthcare services for ₦50,000 annually. For workers in the organized formal sector, the scheme operates on a contributory basis, with employees contributing 3 percent of their basic salary and employers contributing 7 percent.
In a bid to promote early access to healthcare among young people, the agency has also introduced a special school health insurance package priced at ₦3,000 per student per year.
Speaking on the initiative, NASHIA officials reiterated the agency’s commitment to building a healthier Nasarawa State by ensuring that market women, commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders, tricycle operators, entrepreneurs, civil servants, and other professionals can access quality medical care without financial hardship.
