Lawmakers of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have declared their support for the party’s arrangement to adopt consensus in the emergence of executive members at all levels ahead of the forthcoming congresses.
The position was made known on Tuesday after the APC lawmakers held their 9th Caucus Meeting at the State Assembly Complex in Lafia.
Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, said the lawmakers unanimously resolved to align with the party’s consensus arrangement in the interest of unity, peace, and stability within the APC.
According to him, the adoption of consensus would significantly reduce tension and prevent avoidable crises among party faithfuls, thereby strengthening internal cohesion.
The caucus meeting, which was held at the office of the Majority Leader, was attended by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, alongside other APC lawmakers.
Hon. Azara disclosed that the caucus also passed a vote of confidence on the party leadership at all levels, expressing trust in the direction and decisions of the APC leadership in Nasarawa State.
He explained that the meeting was convened to deliberate on issues of unity and chart a clear path for the continued progress of the party beyond 2027.
“We have discussed issues of unity, peace, and progress of the party. We are united and we are going to remain united and loyal to the party in the state,” Azara said.
He added that the lawmakers adopted the outcome of the recent stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House concerning the upcoming congresses.
“We have declared support for the party’s arrangement on consensus. What our leaders and stakeholders discussed and agreed upon at the Government House is the position we have adopted, in the interest of unity, peace, and progress of the party,” he stated.
Reaffirming their loyalty, Azara said the APC caucus in the House has absolute confidence in the party leadership.
He further assured that APC lawmakers would continue to synergize with party stakeholders and government to ensure sustained electoral success and good governance in the state.
“We will continue to work in unity and synergize with stakeholders and government for the progress of the state,” he said.
The lawmakers also pledged their continued commitment to teamwork and harmony within the Assembly for effective legislative service delivery to the people of Nasarawa State.
