Late Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma was an exceptional public servant whose life journey epitomised dedication, perseverance, and selfless service.
A thoroughbred civil servant, he rose from modest beginnings through sheer diligence, discipline, and intellectual depth to attain the rank of Super Permanent Secretary in the then Plateau State Civil Service, an achievement that underscored his rare administrative competence and integrity.
His outstanding record in the civil service naturally paved the way for higher political responsibility. Under the platform of the Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP), Dr. Doma emerged as Deputy Governor of the defunct Plateau State, bringing into governance the wealth of experience, prudence, and institutional knowledge acquired over decades of public administration.
His transition from the civil service to partisan politics was seamless, guided by his firm belief that leadership must be anchored on service to the people.
As Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Doma provided steady and purposeful leadership at a critical period in the state’s development.
His administration prioritised infrastructural expansion, public sector reforms, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
He governed with courage, conviction, and an inclusive mindset, always mindful of the diverse aspirations of the people.
Beyond his official roles, Late Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma was widely respected for his humility, accessibility, and principled stance on matters of justice and equity.
He was a statesman whose words carried weight and whose actions reflected sincerity of purpose.
His legacy is evident in the institutions he strengthened, the foundations he laid for development, and the many lives he mentored and inspired.
Though he has departed this world, his contributions to governance and democracy remain indelible.
Nasarawa State has lost a distinguished leader, but history will forever remember Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma as a man who rose through merit and served with honour.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
