The Nsukka Local Government Area was plunged into mourning on Friday following the sudden death of Dan Aloko, a serving councillor representing Nru Ward.

Aloko, described by friends and constituents as hale, strong, and full of life, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Friday. News of his death spread quickly across the council area, leaving colleagues, friends, and residents in shock.

“He was very strong and healthy,” said a community source. “Nobody expected this. It is like a bad dream.”

Tributes continue to pour in for Aloko, widely remembered as a peace-loving and humble leader who devoted himself to the well-being of his people and maintained cordial relationships across political and social divides.

A close friend of the deceased, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed profound grief.

“I am terribly devastated. We spoke just yesterday. He showed no sign of illness or weakness. This is the most shocking thing that has happened to me in a long time,” he said.

Residents of Nru Ward described the community atmosphere as heavy with sorrow, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man regarded as a symbol of unity and goodwill.

At the time of filing, the Nsukka Local Government Council had not released an official statement, but messages of condolence continued to flood in from across the area.
