NASARAWA DISOWNS CLAIM
The attention of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Nasarawa State Chapter, under the leadership of Hon. Danlami Muhammed Musa, has been drawn to a publication dated Wednesday, January 21, 2026, alleging a meeting between some national officers of the party and so-called SDP stakeholders in Nasarawa State.

The party wishes to categorically state, for the avoidance of doubt, as follows:
There exists a duly elected and subsisting State Executive Committee of the SDP in Nasarawa State, produced through a valid party congress held in April 2022, in strict compliance with the SDP Constitution (2022 as amended) and the Electoral Act.

The executives, led by Hon. Danlami Muhammed Musa as State Chairman, are fully recognised and duly recorded with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
No organ of the SDP, including the National Working Committee (NWC), possesses the constitutional authority to dissolve, suspend, or replace an elected State Executive Committee without due process. Such due process

includes:

Proper notice
Fair hearing
Recommendation of the appropriate committee
Ratification by the National Executive Committee (NEC)
None of these constitutional requirements has occurred with respect to the Nasarawa State chapter.

The party further notes that the SDP National Executive Committee (NEC) has not met to formally ratify or confirm the status of the so-called Acting National Chairman, nor has the NEC conferred on him the legitimacy to take binding decisions affecting state chapters of the party.

Consequently, any meeting, decision, or engagement purportedly conducted on behalf of the SDP in Nasarawa State without the involvement and consent of the duly elected State Executive Committee is null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.

The SDP in Nasarawa State remains intact, cohesive, and fully operational under the able leadership of Hon. Danlami Muhammed Musa. No amount of political betrayal or opportunism by a few self-serving individuals—whether at the national level or within legislative chambers—will deter the party from discharging its constitutional and lawful duties.

The party therefore calls on INEC and relevant security agencies to take due note of this development and to caution these political interlopers and serial defectors—who now parade themselves as stakeholders—from interfering in the internal affairs of the SDP in Nasarawa State, in clear violation of the law and the party’s constitution.

The Social Democratic Party in Nasarawa State remains focused, united, and committed to building a strong, people-oriented political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections, guided strictly by the principles of internal democracy, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.

Signed:
For and on behalf of the
SDP Nasarawa State Executive Committee
Hon. Danlami Muhammed Musa
State Chairman
