Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality, inclusive and accessible education as a catalyst for human capital development and sustainable growth in the state.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the celebration of the International Day of Education, organized by the Bright Impact for Humanity and Indigent Foundation, held at Luxury Hotel along Shendam Road, Lafia.
He was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, Dr. Mamman described education as the bedrock of societal advancement, noting that the Nasarawa State Government has continued to implement policies and programmes aimed at expanding access to education, improving learning standards and supporting indigent and vulnerable learners.
He emphasized that the administration views education as a fundamental human right and a strategic tool for reducing poverty, crime and social inequality, stressing that sustainable development cannot be achieved without adequate investment in the education sector.
Dr. Mamman commended the Bright Impact for Humanity and Indigent Foundation for its humanitarian efforts, particularly its focus on supporting the less privileged through education-based interventions. He noted that such initiatives align with government priorities and complement official efforts to strengthen the education system.
In his remarks, the leadership of the Foundation said the event was organized to underscore the transformative power of education and its role in empowering individuals and communities.
He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to its motto of “Aiding Service to Humanity,” especially in reaching indigent populations.
The event featured goodwill messages from stakeholders in the education sector, civil society organisations and community leaders, who called for sustained collaboration between government and non-governmental organisations to promote educational development in Nasarawa State.
The International Day of Education is commemorated globally to highlight the importance of education in promoting peace, economic growth and human dignity.
