Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, in company with the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, on Monday flagged off a five-day national workshop on the review of the 2020 Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Minimum Standards, organised by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
At the flag-off ceremony held at the College of Education, Akwanga, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman, formally welcomed participants from across the country, commending the NCCE for choosing Nasarawa State as host of the strategic national exercise.

Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening teacher education, describing the review of NCE minimum standards as a critical step toward improving the quality of teaching and learning in Nigeria.

In her remarks, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad emphasized the Federal Government’s resolve to align teacher education with modern pedagogical practices and global standards.

The workshop, which runs from January 19 to 23, 2026, brings together policymakers, curriculum experts, and representatives of colleges of education nationwide to update and reposition NCE programmes for national development.
