The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has paid a consolatory visit to the family of his former Deputy Speaker in the Fifth Assembly and late Senator representing Nasarawa North, Godiya Akwashiki.
Balarabe visited the Senator’s residence in Lafia on Friday, offering condolences to his widow, children, and other family members. During the visit, he described the late Senator as a patriot, philanthropist, and true representative of the people.
Speaking to the family, Balarabe encouraged them to find solace in God’s will, emphasizing that the loss, though painful, is part of life. “Senator Godiya Akwashiki’s death is a big blow to Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large. He loved his people, was passionate about development, and contributed immensely to the growth of Nasarawa North, the State, and the nation,” he said.
He prayed for the late Senator’s soul, urging God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest. Balarabe also called on the Eggon Nation, the State, and all Nigerians to bear the irreparable loss of a patriotic citizen and performing Senator.
This marks the second time the former Speaker has visited the family since the Senator’s demise, reflecting his deep respect and personal connection with the late lawmaker.
Senator Godiya Akwashiki served as Deputy Speaker under Balarabe in the Fifth Nasarawa State House of Assembly before representing Nasarawa North in the National Assembly.
