The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has described the death of Senator Godiya Akwashiki as “one death too many to bear,” noting that it is a painful exit and a colossal loss to Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
In a condolence message, Balarabe said he received the news of Senator Akwashiki’s demise with great shock and deep sorrow, describing himself as heartbroken by the passing of a man who served as his Deputy Speaker during the Fifth Nasarawa State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2019.
According to the former Speaker, the death of the former Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and serving Senator representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District is a big blow to the state, one that has created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
He described Senator Akwashiki as a committed legislator whose contributions to lawmaking and governance left indelible marks on the political history of Nasarawa State.
While acknowledging the pain of the loss, Balarabe noted that death is inevitable and the ultimate end of every mortal, stressing that it occurs in accordance with the will of God, who gives and takes life at His appointed time. He therefore urged the family, associates and the general public to accept the demise as an act of God.
Rt. Hon. Balarabe Abdullahi, who is currently the Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Yobe State, condoled with the immediate family of the deceased, the Eggon Nation, the Government and people of Nasarawa State, as well as the Nigerian Senate.
He prayed God Almighty to forgive the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki his shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest.
