NSUK Alumni Hails Re-Election Of Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza To Top Young Women Of Africa Leadership Positions

The Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Council of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) Alumni Association have celebrated the re-election of one of their distinguished members, Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza, as Regional Secretary, West Africa, and Country Head, Nigeria, of the Young Women of Africa (YWOA).

Amb. Omieza earned the renewed mandate at the 5th Annual Continental Convention of YWOA, held from December 8–10, 2025, at the African Union (AU) Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 The Young Women of Africa remains the largest young women’s movement on the continent, with membership spanning all African countries.

The convention, themed “Advancing Reparative Justice and Shared Prosperity for Young Women and Girls in Africa: Breaking Barriers Now and Building a Gender-Equitable Future,” also saw Amb. Omieza receive the Queen Nzinga Mbandi Award of Excellence (Young Women Empowerment Award 2025) in recognition of her outstanding contributions in West Africa and Nigeria.

Nigeria also clinched two major recognitions, Community Impact Award and Country of the Year (West Africa) 2025, with Amb. Omieza representing the nation with distinction.

A proud alumna of NSUK and an MSc student of Mass Communication, Amb. Omieza continues to bring honour and visibility to the university through her leadership, activism, and global engagement.

In a statement signed by God’spower Ede, National Public Relations Officer of the NSUK Alumni Association, the body expressed confidence that Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza will continue to excel in her new tenure and further uplift the image of the institution.
