The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, on Tuesday, received the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) chapter, during a courtesy visit at the Justice House, Lafia.
The delegation, led by the ASUU Chairman, Comrade Zubairu Abdulmumini Loko, said the visit was to formally congratulate the Attorney General on his appointment and to express the union’s goodwill.
Comrade Loko highlighted key issues affecting academic staff in the state, particularly the non-implementation of the 70-year retirement age for professors and the state government’s counterpart contribution to the pension scheme.
He appealed to the Attorney General to use his good office to intervene, noting that the concerns have significant implications for staff welfare and institutional stability.
Responding, Barr. Isaac Danladi thanked the ASUU leadership for the visit and described it as a demonstration of partnership and commitment to strengthening education in Nasarawa State.
He assured the delegation that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration is fully committed to improving the welfare of university staff and addressing legitimate concerns affecting the education sector.
He pledged to carefully examine the issues raised and engage the relevant government agencies to fast-track discussions aimed at finding sustainable and lawful solutions.
According to him, all interventions will be guided by the principles of due process and the rule of law.
Barr. Danladi reaffirmed the government’s readiness to work closely with ASUU and other stakeholders to enhance industrial harmony and support the continued growth of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
He commended the union for their dedication and sacrifices, assuring them that his doors remain open for constructive dialogue aimed at advancing education in the state.
