Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has been honoured as Education Ambassador by Independent Newspaper in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and transformation of the education sector in Nasarawa State.
According to the Board of Independent Newspaper, the award celebrates Governor Sule’s remarkable achievements in expanding access to quality education through strategic investments, policy advocacy, and continuous promotion of child education across the state.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D.W. Mamman, Governor Sule received the award during Independent Newspaper’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration commemorating 70 years of Free Basic Education in Nigeria, held on Thursday in Lagos.
In his remarks, Dr. Mamman expressed gratitude to the management of Independent Newspaper for recognizing Governor Sule’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to human capital development.
He reaffirmed the administration’s determination to continue prioritizing education as a vital tool for empowerment and societal advancement.
The event, chaired by elder statesman Chief Bisi Akande, attracted eminent Nigerians, including Prof. Uche Azikiwe, wife of the late Nnamdi Azikiwe; former ministers Prof. Barth Nnaji, Otunba Segun Runsewe, and Alhaji Lai Mohammed; grandchildren of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello (the Sardauna of Sokoto); veteran broadcaster Dr. Danladi Bako; and the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, among others.
In a press release signed by Ibrahim Addra, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the Government commended Independent Newspaper for the recognition and reiterated its continued commitment to strengthening the education sector for the benefit of all citizens of Nasarawa State.
