The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman, has reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to improving the standard of education across tertiary institutions in the state.
Dr. Mamman made this known during an official visit to the Dr. Nura Maifata Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, on Monday, October 14, 2025, where he interacted with the management, staff, and students of the institution.
The visit, described by many as an August visit, was aimed at assessing the institution’s progress and strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Education and tertiary institutions under the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule, who continues to prioritize education as a key driver of development in the state.
Government Determined to Strengthen Tertiary Education
Addressing the Polytechnic community, Dr. Mamman commended the management for maintaining academic standards and infrastructural development despite prevailing challenges.
He reiterated that the present administration is committed to providing the necessary support to sustain excellence in all state-owned tertiary institutions.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule’s government remains fully committed to ensuring quality and accessible education across Nasarawa State. We will continue to support our institutions with the resources and reforms needed to produce globally competitive graduates,” the Commissioner stated.
He further assured that the Ministry would intensify engagement with institutions to identify challenges and provide sustainable solutions that promote effective teaching, learning, and research.

Responding, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nura Maifata, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and his entourage for the visit, describing it as a major encouragement to both staff and students.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration for its continuous investment in education through infrastructural development, scholarship programmes, and staff welfare, all aimed at enhancing productivity and academic excellence.
