Panic gripped Agyaragu community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Sunday night when armed men invaded the residence of Pastor Samuel Nasamu of the Word of God Church and abducted his wife, Patience Nasamu, along with a female church member.
The attackers reportedly fired several gunshots into the air to gain access to the house before seizing their victims.
Mrs. Nasamu, a nursing mother of a three-month-old baby, was taken away while the helpless infant was left behind crying.
Narrating the incident, Pastor Nasamu said he returned home to the harrowing sight of his baby alone and his wife and visitor missing.
Residents of Agyaragu decried the rising wave of kidnappings in the area, describing it as a daily nightmare.
They called on Governor Abdullahi Sule and security agencies to move swiftly to secure the release of the abducted women and restore public confidence in the state’s security.
Family members, church members and well-wishers have continued to offer prayers for the safe return of Mrs. Nasamu and the church member.
