The Police authority in Niger State has arrested a total of thirty-two suspected hoodlooms that have been terrorising residents of Minna and its environs in recent times
Among the arrested suspect, include an ex-convict who was on Police wanted list that escaped from the custodial centre during a jail break in Minna medium security custodial centre sometimes in 2008.
The Commissioner of Police in Niger State,CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman in his efforts to rid Minna and its environs of criminally minded elements in the state launched a total Onslaught against the activities of miscreants that have been terrorising residents of Minna and its environs in recent times
The raids is to ensure the eradication of thuggery,phone snatching and other Criminal activities which has hitherto put fears among residents of Minna and its environs in recent times.
The raids has yielded unprecedented Divided as the command in a sting operations and raids embarked upon by Operatives of the 'A' Divisional Command of Criminal hideouts in Limawa, Makers, Kwangila,Central roundabout, Railway station,Ogbomosho street, Abdulsalam quarters New- Market,PZ area,Angwan Kaje,Sabongari Angwan Sarki and Kuta road in Minna the state capital.
Speaking in an exclusive Interview with our reporter in Minna, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman disclosed that one Jamilu Usman a 19 years old known as Pabro has been on the wanted list of the Command for attempted culpable homicide.
According to the Commissioner of Police who spoke through the Command Spokeman Wasiu Abiodun SP, Jamilu who is a resident of Tayi Village in Minna was arrested along with a kingpin named Abdulraheem Tasiu with nickname Tsoho Papalolo of PZ area and one Abdulmajid Abubakar a 25 years resident of Angwan-Daji area in Minna.
He said the Abdulmajid was an ex-convict who recently served a jail terms after he was Convicted for an offence
Also in Police net is one Mohammed Yahaya 35yrs of Angwan-Sarki was also arrested and a preliminary investigation revealed that he was among the escaped inmates from the Correctional Centre during the last jail break, having been convicted for an offence of homicide.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include several wraps of suspected cannabis, shisha pots, cutlasses, and other illicit substances. All suspects are under investigation and efforts to transfer the said inmate to the custodial centre is ongoing.
Further to Jemilu Usman incident under GRA Div, it was reported that within the month of May 2025, a victim from Tayi village, Minna was attacked in house when a group of miscreants identified as Jemilu Usman, Adamu Wasape, Abdulrahman, Muntari, and Umar Idris all of Tayi village, Minna went to the victim's house to pluck mangoes and he resisted, one of the hoodlums used a knife and inflicted a deep cut on the victim's head before they absconded.
The arrested Jemilu is assisting the Police in the investigation with a view to arrest other members at large.
Similarly on 01/9/2025 at about 6am, two suspected electric transformer vandals; Idris Garba 21yrs and Saifullahi Alkasim 28yrs both of Alagbado, Minna were arrested by Police operatives of 'B' Div Minna at a transformer spot within the area during an attempt to vandalize the cables, while two others escaped. The suspects arrested have been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
Earlier on 28/8/2025 at about 10am, based on intelligence received that two suspects; Ilyasu Hassan and Ibrahim Mohammed were sighted during an attempt to sell a suspected stolen Bajaj motorcycle within Suleja, Police operatives attached to 'B' Div Suleja moved to the scene, arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen motorcycle.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that the motorcycle was stolen from Jere along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. Suspects were arraigned in court for prosecution.
On 20/8/2025 at about 9pm, based on credible information on criminalities around Daza, Police operatives of Tactical Support Team (TST) stormed an isolated camp at Daza, via Kafin-Koro Paikoro LGA.
Immediately the Police teams were sighted around the camp, two suspected hoodlums hiding within the camp took to their heels and escaped. However, a search was carried out in the camp and one locally fabricated revolver gun was recovered. Surveillance and monitoring continues on the camp to arrest the fleeing hoodlums terrorising the area.
