Nassarawa Eggon, Nasarawa State – Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has called on the Eggon nation and residents across the state to continue to live in peace and unity irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations for the rapid development of the state.
Governor Sule, represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, made the call during the inauguration of the newly elected officials of the Eggon Youth Association (EYA) held in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The event, themed “Eggon Unity and Integration,” drew key political leaders, traditional rulers and stakeholders.
Dr. Akabe, who chaired the occasion, emphasized that peace and unity remain the bedrock of sustainable development.
“Eggon nation is blessed. We must forget our differences and embrace unity and peace. Without peace among the youths, there can be no development,” he said, urging continued support for Governor Sule’s administration which, he noted, is working tirelessly to foster harmony and deliver democratic dividends.
He commended the Aren Eggon, HRH Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku (Rtd), for his wisdom and efforts in uniting the Eggon youths and used the occasion to condole the community over the death of former Deputy Governor, Senator Solomon Aku Ewuga, while also calling for prayers for Senator Godiya Akwashiki’s speedy recovery.
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, also praised the Aren Eggon for initiating reforms that strengthened unity among the youths.
“We must remain united as a state and support Governor Sule to enjoy more dividends of democracy,” he said.
To support the youth body’s operations, Speaker Jatau donated a Sienna car to the Eggon Youth Association.
In his remarks, HRH Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku (Rtd), the Aren Eggon, commended the electoral committee for conducting a free and fair election and urged the new EYA leadership to show respect to government and remain focused on uniting the people.
President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) Worldwide, Mr. Mandy David Abuluya, lauded the stakeholders’ collective effort in achieving “One Eggon Nation” and urged the new executive to lead with fear of God, transparency and accountability.
Acting Chairman of the Eggon Transition Committee, Alhaji Umar Anvah Ubangari, described the inauguration as a significant milestone after months of effort to unite the youths.
Barr. Emmanuel Kuza administered the oath of office to the new officials while Guest Speaker, Prof. U.D. Mohammed, delivered a lecture titled “Effective Youth Leadership: A Tool for Peace, Unity, and Sub-National Integration.
” He recommended the establishment of a leadership institute and an annual leadership and peace award to honour those contributing to the growth of Eggon youths.
Similarly, Hon. Hassan Nalaraba, member representing Doma/Keana/Awe Federal Constituency, and Hon. Iliya Ibn Aliyu, Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon LGA, urged the youths to embrace tolerance and unity for the development of both Eggon nation and Nasarawa State at large.
In his acceptance speech, the new EYA President, Mr. Friday Ozigi Haruna, thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to revive the Annual Eggon Youth Day to showcase the community’s rich cultural heritage and innovations.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included Alhaji Abu Giza, 2027 APC gubernatorial aspirant; Gen. Nuhu Angbazo; Hon. Solomon Akwashiki; Hon. Jacob Ajegena Kudu; Hon. John Ovey; and several members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council.
