Concerned stakeholders in the Nasarawa State education sector have raised questions over the suitability of appointing a political office holder to manage the state’s Bilingual Education Project.

They argued that, in line with public service rules and the operational guidelines of the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the position should be occupied by a qualified career civil servant to ensure professionalism, accountability, and continuity.

The stakeholders maintained that the project, which demands technical expertise and long-term commitment, ought to be insulated from political considerations.

They further stressed that allowing a political appointee to double as project head could create a conflict of interest and undermine the project’s objectives.

They called on the state government and SUBEB management to uphold due process and ensure that only a properly designated staff member is considered for the appointment.
