The Benue State House of Assembly has issued a matching order to Gerawa Global Engineering Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the renovation of the assembly complex, to complete the project by October 30.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, gave the directive during an inspection visit to the project site on Tuesday in Makurdi.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work, noting that the assembly had earlier visited the site in July when the contractor promised to deliver the project within 40 days.
Emberga lamented that no significant progress had been recorded since then despite the state government releasing almost all of the contractual sum.
“It is our desire to have the 2026 Budget presented in the renovated chamber by the first week of November. Unfortunately, the level of work done so far is disappointing.
If by October 30 the project is not completed, the House will pass a resolution revoking the contract, and the contractor will be compelled to pay compensation in line with the agreement,” Emberga warned.
Responding, Mr. Timothy Ugbaa, representative of Gerawa Global Engineering Nigeria Limited, assured the House that the company would intensify efforts to meet the deadline.
He explained that the remaining work involved technical aspects that required careful execution to meet specifications.
