Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu (Sarkin Yakin Keffi), representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC), has formally resigned his membership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the party in Tudun Kofa Ward, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Wadada said his decision was taken after careful consideration, stressing that it became unavoidable due to the lingering internal crisis within the party.
According to him, the internal wrangling, which has persisted for some time, has caused “serious division and litigations within the SDP,” making it difficult to continue as a member.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while being a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and grateful for the experiences and relationships built.
However, I feel it is time for me to move on and explore new avenues,” the lawmaker stated.
Wadada expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for their support, while reaffirming his resolve to continue contributing to the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
His resignation is expected to trigger political realignments in Nasarawa West ahead of the 2027 elections.
