The Nasarawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has assured the immediate family of late Mr. Abari Isa of its commitment to supporting their welfare, especially in the education of his children.
The State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Salihu Mohammed Alkali, gave the assurance when he led a delegation of the council’s secretaries to Obi Local Government Area for the three-day prayer of the deceased journalist, who until his death was a health correspondent with the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), Lafia.
Comrade Alkali said the visit was to commiserate with the family and to reaffirm NUJ’s resolve to assist them with basic needs, including school fees and textbooks for the children.
He described the late Abari as a humble, dedicated, and committed professional whose demise is a great loss not only to his family but also to the union and the entire state.
“The death of Abari Isa is painful and a shock to the entire media landscape in Nasarawa State. We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljannatul Firdausi,” Alkali said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Joseph Ari, elder brother to the deceased, appreciated the union for the show of love and solidarity, noting that death is inevitable for all. He thanked NUJ for standing with the family during their time of grief.
In a related development, the National President of the NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo, represented by the State Chairman, Comrade Alkali, also described the demise of Abari Isa as a colossal loss to journalism in Nigeria.
He stated this during a condolence visit to the management of NBS Lafia, where he praised the late journalist for his professionalism and contributions to the media industry.
Receiving the delegation, the Executive Vice Chairman of NBS, Malam Awwalu Salihu, expressed gratitude for the condolence visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and support within the media community.
