The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has applauded the Kano State Government for its ongoing infrastructural projects, describing them as vital to urban renewal, economic growth, and the state’s commercial prominence.
As part of activities marking the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kano, the Union’s National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, led NEC members and delegates on a tour of major development projects across the city.
The delegation inspected strategic sites including the Dan Agundi Underpass, Tal’udu Bridge, Kano State Sports Commission, Northwest University, the Ministry of Works, and other landmark projects aimed at boosting transportation, education, and public services.
Commending the quality and scale of the works, Comrade Yahaya said:
“What we are witnessing is a step in the right direction. The level of infrastructural development here is commendable and reflects a commitment to long-term progress.”
He also emphasized the role of the media in accurately documenting and reporting government initiatives, urging journalists to uphold professional standards.
The tour was coordinated by the Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, alongside other ministry officials and stakeholders.
The NEC meeting, which draws participants from all 36 states and the FCT, will continue with deliberations on pressing issues affecting journalism and press freedom in Nigeria.
Other activities include a courtesy visit and media parley with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, a technical NEC session, and a Dinner/Award Night.
