The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has called on the people of Kokona Local Government Area and the state at large to continue living in peace and unity, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious differences, to ensure the steady growth and development of the state.
Dr. Jatau made the appeal at a grand reception in Moro, Kokona LGA, organized by the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT), Hon. Danlami Lawal Moro.
The event, which drew political heavyweights and grassroots supporters, also witnessed the defection of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Peace and Unity as the Foundation for Development
Speaking as Chairman of the occasion, the Speaker emphasized that peace remains the bedrock of any meaningful progress.
“Without peace and unity, there will be no development. People should not allow leadership to divide them because leadership comes from God at the appointed time,” he said.
Dr. Jatau expressed appreciation to the organisers of the event, describing it as a platform for strengthening bonds among Kokona people and fostering political harmony.
2027 House of Representatives Bid Gains Momentum
The Speaker was visibly moved when a group of constituents, led by Mr. Tanko Yamu, unveiled a billboard in his honour and publicly urged him to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency in 2027.
“I’m overwhelmed by this call. It means people are watching what I do. This came as a surprise, but it gladdens my heart. I will answer this call in no distant time,” Dr. Jatau said.
The group pledged to mobilise resources, including banners, T-shirts, billboards, posters, and even the purchase of his nomination form when the time comes.
APC State Chairman Welcomes Defectors, Warns Ambitious Politicians
In a related development, the Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, while receiving defectors from PDP and other parties in Kokona, urged politicians eyeing the governorship seat to exercise caution.
“Destiny is greater than ambition. We are loyal to the leadership of the party and await Governor Sule’s direction. Leadership comes from God through the people’s mandate,” Dr. Bello stated.
Senator Wadada Set to Return to APC
Also at the event, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada revealed plans to officially rejoin the APC soon.
“I left in 2023 for certain reasons, but I am one of the founding fathers of CPC and among those who merged to form APC. Nobody is more APC than myself,” Wadada declared, expressing confidence in securing the party’s ticket and winning the general election.
Defectors Cite Gov. Sule’s Leadership
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Danlami Maiwada praised Governor Sule’s leadership style and development strides, pledging their commitment to work for the party’s victory in 2027 and beyond.
