The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, has hailed the state judiciary for delivering justice in a long-pending rape case, describing the recent High Court judgment in Lafia as a victory for the rule of law and a warning to would-be offenders.
Danladi made the remarks while receiving a team of journalists from the Office of the First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, who visited the Ministry of Justice to learn about its activities, particularly those of the Department of Public Defender.
Expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the case, Danladi said the court gave the accused a fair hearing before ruling in favour of the state, adding that the judgment was “justice effectively and efficiently served.”
“This is an offense against the state, and we are glad that justice has not only been done but manifestly seen to have been done.
We hope it serves as a deterrent to others who think they can commit such crimes and go scot-free,” he said.
The Attorney General commended the journalists for their role in enlightening the public on government initiatives, especially the activities of the First Lady, and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to upholding justice for all citizens.
