The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami, has passed away at the age of 81.
His death, which occurred on Saturday night at a London hospital after an illness, was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi by the Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, and further endorsed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris.
According to the statement, the late monarch is survived by four wives and seven children.
The Kebbi State Government extended its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Zuru Emirate Council, the people of Zuru, and the entire citizens of the state.
“May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” the statement read.
Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary, further noted that details of the burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.
