The Immediate Past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and Chairman, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has convened a high-level political meeting with stakeholders from his constituency of Umaisha/Ugya in Toto Local Government Area.
The meeting, held on Tuesday in Lafia, brought together serving and former political office holders, community leaders, and party executives, including the Administrator of Umaisha Area Administrative Council, Hon. Salihu Kasim Hasheem, Secretary of Toto LGA, Hon. Muhammed Baba Yahaya, and the APC Chairman of Toto LGA, Alhaji Shuaibu Ahmed.
Addressing journalists after a four-hour closed-door session, Balarabe said the gathering was a routine engagement with his people to “put their house in order” as political activities ahead of 2027 gather momentum.
He urged constituents to exercise patience regarding the choice of governorship candidate, stressing that the final decision rests with Governor Abdullahi Sule, whom he described as the leader and father of the state’s political family.
“Leadership comes from God, and I believe He will use Governor Sule to anoint the right successor.
His Excellency has performed beyond expectations, and we trust him to guide us to a competent candidate who will consolidate on his achievements,” Balarabe stated.
The former Speaker also called for massive participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, urging eligible citizens, particularly youths who just turned 18—to register, correct errors, or transfer their voting centers home.
On unity, Balarabe commended the peaceful return of the Bassa community to Toto LGA, stressing the need for inclusivity, harmony, and cooperation for sustainable development.
He acknowledged Governor Sule’s decisive role in restoring peace to Toto after years of insecurity, including the menace of Darul Salam terrorists and rampant kidnapping.
“We have seen real transformation under Governor Sule. He brought peace to Toto, and for that reason, whoever he endorses as his successor will have our total support,” he emphasized.
Speaking on his own political ambition, Balarabe said politics remains his profession, adding that he would be ready to serve in any capacity his people consider suitable.
Meanwhile, APC stakeholders at the meeting pledged their loyalty to Balarabe’s leadership, describing him as their political compass.
They affirmed that the meeting was timely and fruitful as it provided direction on unity and upcoming political challenges.
