The Nasarawa State Government has strongly refuted circulating claims that the newly commissioned Lafia Flyover is unsafe or at risk of collapsing, describing the rumours as false, mischievous, and aimed at inciting fear among the public.
The N16 billion flyover, which was officially inaugurated in June 2025 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains structurally sound and safe for public use, according to state officials and engineering experts.
“The flyover underwent all required structural integrity tests and passed federal safety standards.
There has been no credible report or evidence suggesting the flyover is collapsing,” a government statement noted.
Officials emphasized that concerns raised about nighttime activities around the flyover are security-related issues, common in many urban areas, and not linked to any structural defects.
The local police have been alerted and are taking steps to enhance surveillance in the area.
The state government also cited photographic evidence and national media reports, including those by The Punch, confirming the flyover’s successful commissioning and operational readiness.
“This infrastructure is a symbol of progress and development for Nasarawa State,” the statement added.
“Those spreading falsehoods are likely attempting to undermine public confidence in the administration’s achievements.”
Residents have been urged to disregard the fake reports, remain calm, and use the flyover without fear.
The public is also advised to verify such alarming claims through official government channels or the Federal Ministry of Works before sharing.
