Bauchi State government has created an enabling environment for advanced training, repair of firefighting trucks, recruitment, and renovation of recreation rooms to a global standard to enable it to discharge its duties effectively and efficiently
To this end, the state government has created an additional 10 Fire sub-stations across the three senatorial districts of the state as part of its unwavering commitment to strengthen the operational capacity of the State Fire Service.
The state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad made the announcement at the opening ceremony of the 2025 annual national conference of Fire Chiefs and Directors held at Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.
Represented by his deputy, Muhammad Auwal Jatau, the governor explained that his administration has already strengthened fire safety regulations by enacting and enforcing laws that promote fire safety standards in public places.
He said, “The need to prevent and fight fire outbreaks and other emergencies that require the service of firefighters cannot be overemphasized.
Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the capacity of our firefighters and boost their morale for the effective and efficient discharge of their duties.”
Governor Bala added, “I am also pleased to inform you that our government has increased the allowances of Fire Service personnel in order to motivate and encourage them to perform their duty more diligently.”
“As Chiefs and Directors of Fire Service, I would like to appeal to participants at this conference to impart the knowledge they would gain during the conference to their subordinates when they get to their various places of work,” he said.
He urged the participants to use the conference to enhance their proficiency in the discharge of their duties as firefighters by collectively working towards a fire-safe Nigeria, preventing fire outbreaks, protecting lives, and promoting a culture of fire safety awareness.
On her part, the chairperson, Association of States Fire Service Chiefs and Directors, Mrs Margaret A. Adeseye, explained that the annual national conference of the Fire Service Chiefs and Directors was aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness of the operatives both at the federal and state levels through sharing of experience and knowledge.
Speaking earlier, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Hajara Yakubu Wanka appreciated the state government for hosting the conference and called for synergy and collaboration among the stakeholders in order to achieve the desired objectives.
The opening ceremony featured award presentations by the Association to some notable personalities in the State that included the State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammad.
