In a bold move to boost local commerce and reinforce socio-economic development, the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, has commissioned a newly established cattle market in Toto.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Pharm. Baba Yahaya said the market was conceived to stimulate cattle trading, generate revenue, and create job opportunities for residents. He also pledged to provide essential facilities such as toilets and supporting infrastructure to enhance the market's functionality and hygiene standards.
Highlighting the impact of his administration’s peace and security initiatives, the council chairman noted that the area has experienced improved stability, fostering an environment conducive to development and harmonious coexistence between farmers and herders.
He reiterated his administration's unwavering alignment with Governor Abdullahi Sule's policy drive and called on the people of Toto and beyond to rally behind the governor’s leadership for the continued progress of the state.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included Alh. Yusuf Usman Danjuma representing the Hon. Commissioner for Trade, Industry, and Investment, and Hon. Dr. Abdullahi Musa representing the Commissioner for Agriculture.
They both commended the council boss for his developmental efforts and commitment to peace in line with the Sule administration's vision.
Also speaking at the event, HRH the Ohinoyi Ogye, Alh. Umar Azaki, praised both Governor Sule and Pharm. Baba Yahaya for their dedication to peace and progress in Toto. He urged marketers to make proper use of the cattle market for the benefit of the entire community.
The event witnessed the presence of representatives from the offices of the Secretary to the State Government, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, and Hon. Gaza Gbefwi, among others. Cultural displays and a symbolic fundraising session marked the high points of the event.
In a related development, Pharm. Baba Yahaya, through his Deputy Hon. Atnadu Sunday Yakubu, has appealed to school principals and proprietors to support the reintegration of NYSC members in Toto Local Government Area.
Speaking during a stakeholders' meeting at the Council Chamber involving security agencies, NYSC members, and education stakeholders, the chairman emphasized the need to create a safe and welcoming environment for corps members to carry out their primary assignments effectively.
He noted that Toto LGA had been without NYSC postings for over a decade due to security concerns and called for community collaboration to reverse this trend and restore confidence in the system.
