Nasarawa Assembly Confirms Eight Commissioner Nominees, Okays Obi College Bill for First Reading

 The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed eight commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Abdullahi Sule for appointment into the State Executive Council.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D., disclosed this during Wednesday’s plenary in Lafia, congratulating the nominees on their appointments and urging them to uphold integrity and accountability if eventually sworn in.
The confirmed nominees are:
Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo — Wamba LGA
Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed — Lafia LGA
Hon. Mohammed Baba Shehu — Keffi LGA
Hon. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye — Obi LGA
Adamu Rabecca Kpadji — Wamba LGA
Nawani Aboki — Doma LGA
Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, FCNA — Nasarawa LGA
Ashefo Daniel Paul, Ph.D. — Lafia LGA
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the Assembly to Governor Sule for further necessary action.

Earlier, the Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, moved the motion for the confirmation of the nominees, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

The House unanimously confirmed the nominees after lawmakers representing their respective constituencies spoke in support of their appointments.
It would be recalled that on August 5, 2026, Speaker Jatau unveiled the eight commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Sule for screening and confirmation.
Assembly Begins Legislative Process for Obi College of Animal Health.

In a related development, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into first reading a bill seeking the establishment of the College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Obi, and for other purposes connected thereto.

The bill, sponsored by Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, member representing Obi I Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, was moved for first reading by the sponsor and seconded by Hon. Esson Mairiga.

The Assembly unanimously approved the bill for first reading.
Speaker Jatau subsequently scheduled August 25, 2026, for the second reading of the proposed legislation.
