NNPC OFFERS FREE CATARACT EXTRACTION SURGERY FOR 1000 IN NORTH WEST

As part of it's corporate Social responsibility the Nigerian National petroleum company Foundation offered medical out reach on cataract Surgery for 1000 in the North West.

Speaking at flagging off ceremony of the Surgery held at Gambo Sawaba Government General Hospital Zaria in Kaduna State at the Weekend Managing Director of the Foundation,Mrs Emmanuella Arukwe said that the foundation has many interventions in order to touch the lives of vulnerable and less privilege individual under it's Corporate Social responsibility.

She said that the foundation was  just 2 years old and it was  an arm of the NNPC that carried out all Coporate
 Social Responsibilities and other interventions.

She said, Medical outreach was  one of the areas they focus as there was educational intervention , also in the energy sector and environment there were interventions.

According to the Managing Director 23% of the blindness is caused by the Cataract  while it is preventable ,

She hope to beat the target number of 6000 nationwide at the end of the  exercise.

Also speaking  the emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli expressed his emotion for the large turn out of people for the outreach .

Emir Bamalli commended the management of the NNPC Foundation for this initiative and expressed hope that much more will be done in the near future.

He added that the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital was one of the best health facility around and call on the foundation the time to do something more in the  interest less privileged and vulnerable in the Hospital especially in maternity Ward under it's social  responsibilities.

The Emir commended the Commissioner of Health for her untiring efforts in moving the Health sector forward.

He reminded the NNPC Managing Director and her managements to do the needful to support the Maternity  Ward in the hospital.

Nuhu Bamalli said since his become the emir this is the first time he witness an intervention from NNPC which according to him is a record to him.

Earlier the Commissioner of Health Kaduna State Hajiya Umma K. Ahmed expressed deep appreciation of Kaduna State Government for the NNPC Foundation gesture to the less previleged over their health issues particularly the eyes problem..

She said, this humanitarian service was not only restoring sight but also restoring hope, diginity and productivity.

She added that this programme is aligned with Governor Uba Sani's health vision which has equitable and serviceable healthcare delivery for all especially  the vulnerable.

According to her Governor Uba Sani have a passion of meeting the Global healthcare development particularly the SDG3 in promoting the healthy life and promoting the health for all.
